Staten Island’s Commercial Waste Zone

Staten Island will operate as a single commercial waste zone, meaning businesses will only be able to choose one of Green Environmental Services, Cogent Waste Solutions, or Priority First Carting as their garbage company. . This change simplifies the process and ensures a more efficient and eco-friendly waste management system for the borough.
Waste Zones

Under the new Commercial Waste Zoning system, each of the 20 zones in New York City will have three authorized carters providing services. Each zone has tailored rules for waste collection to ensure efficiency and sustainability, making it easier for businesses to comply with city regulations.
Hauler Regulations

Under CWZ, businesses must hire one of the 3 licensed waste haulers assigned to their specific zone. These haulers must meet strict environmental and operational standards set by the city to reduce illegal dumping and increase waste diversion.
Purpose of CWZ

Commercial Waste Zoning (CWZ) created by DSNY aims to streamline waste management in NYC by organizing waste collection into specific zones. This reduces truck traffic, improves air quality, and enhances neighborhood safety and cleanliness by making the waste hauling process more efficient.
